According to some studies, when there is inflammation in the brain circuits that regulate motivation, motor activity, anxiety, excitement or alarm signals, alterations are generated that result in the interruption of some neurotransmitter pathways.

The interaction between inflamed pathways and neural circuits in the brain may lead to erratic behavioral responses. In addition, such interactions appear to drive the development of depression leading to the lack of response to current antidepressant therapies (...)
