Laser evaluation: for safe and responsible consumption

As part of ICAN Vets ' commitment to education, information and support, MVZ Flor Ortiz and Mish Castillo offered a session dedicated to the correct evaluation of cannabis-based medications. According to Ortiz, this is one of the main topics of interest among the medical community.
As an opening, the expert emphasized that not all products in the Mexican market are legal for use in animals. Following this point, the specialist emphasized the importance of knowing, understanding and using the appropriate terminology.
Accordingly, the first part of the talk was devoted to explaining the difference between cannabis, hemp and hemp. Castillo also shared the exact definitions of medicine, supplement and home-made extract.
Medication: substance that serves to prevent, cure or alleviate disease or to correct or repair the sequelae. It must always contain the same amount of active substances and have a sanitary registration.
Nutritional supplement/complement: food product, the purpose of which is to supplement the normal diet. It must contain the same amount of active substances. It is not always regulated.
Artisanal or homemade extract: prepared by patients, their relatives or cannabiculturists. Ideally, it should not be commercialized, since it is not regulated and the amount of substances is variable.
