The purpose of this collaboration is to develop and innovate the commercial application of the plant. In addition to attending to the commercial field, the aim is to play a leading role in scientific information.

Context of the collaboration between Xebra Brands and the Universidad Autónoma de Chapingo

Early March 2023, Xebra Brands confirmed to be the first company to obtain Cofepris' permit to carry out industrial activities related to cannabis .

The endorsement by the health authority was preceded by the resolution in which the Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation (SCJN) recognized Xebra Brands as the first company authorized to import seeds, cultivate, process, manufacture, sell and export cannabis products with 1% or less of THC.

Prior to Cofepris' approval, it was learned that the firm is looking for land in the State of Mexico and Yucatan. It is intended that the peninsular state will be the site for cultivation and the construction of an extraction facility.

Likewise, in November 2021, the president of the company in question, Robert Giustra, assured that the authorization will allow the regulatory agenda to continue. In addition, Mexico is envisioned as a reference country in the cannabis sector in the region.
