It all starts with an idea.
On the road to cannabis legalization in Mexico, ICAN has been a pillar in the development of policies and education, aligned with the economic, social and health objectives in the Mexican environment, which allows our country to establish the best practices to have a regulated market.
The medical cannabis market has been legal since 2017 but there was no legal raw material in Mexico and there has been no educational reference or verified information about cannabis. Through the Boticaⁿ brand, ICAN is one of the first companies in Mexico that has managed to integrate the legal and ethical importation, production and dispensation of personalized cannabinoid medicines, through the compounding medicine.
In 2017 Erick Ponce created ICAN, with the objective of opening cannabis operations in Latin America, as well as the creation of a network of technical, operational and commercial infrastructure; at the same time promoting education, information, collaboration and certification on cannabis and its derivatives.
Erick Ponce CEO of Ican, has been a reference in the regulation of cannabis in Mexico, and has participated as an advisor in the Chambers of Deputies and Senators to contribute to the construction of the necessary regulation for the cannabis market to be safe and legal.
Also in 2019 he was elected as president of the Cannabis Industry Promotion Group (GPIC) in Mexico. Grouping of the main national and international companies of the guild within the country.
ICAN has built a very solid educational base in relation to training more than 2000 physicians and veterinarians on the correct use of medical cannabis for human and veterinary patients. In conjunction with UNAM we have developed a diploma course for health professionals, analyzing in depth the most relevant guidelines and protocols regarding cannabinoid medicine.
